Obituary of Gerhard Fast

Fast, Gerhard (December 30, 1918 – August 11, 2018) – It is with great sadness that Johanna Fast (nee Vieweg) announces the peaceful passing of her husband and best friend Gerhard Fast. He is the beloved father of 4 daughters Troudy Clark, Lindy (Vic) Desantis, Rosi (Al) Rankin, Birgit (Thain) Johnston and one son Gary Fast. He will be dearly missed by 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Gerhard and Johanna were best friends throughout an amazing and wonderful 74 years of marriage. Gerhard brought his family to Canada from Germany in 1951. As an extremely intelligent man, with his engineering degree from the University of Berlin, he created a beautiful life for his family here in St. Catharines.

The family will receive friends at the Vineland Chapel of Tallman Funeral Homes, 3277 King St., for one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held in the chapel at 11am on Friday August 17, 2018. A luncheon will follow at the Tallman Fireside Room. Interment at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated by the family.
